I found some really interesting quotes on originality in art. I’m starting with George Edward Moore - “It does not matter how badly you paint, just so long as you don’t paint badly like other people.”
I don’t know if I agree completely. I think you need some skill as a painter. There are things I’ve […]

Today, I want to spotlight Regina from RGR Designs. I just discovered her blog recently. She does a ton of different stuff, but has recently done a lot of stamped and mixed media pieces. This hearts piece I am highlighting today is available in her Etsy shop. She has also done some lovely watercolor and […]

Remember the craft kit I showed you on Sunday? This is the finished Valentine’s Day tree. To make it, I covered the tree in sheet music. This was an absolute pain to do, because of all the curves. If you do the same kit, you may want to paint and stamp it instead. That’s what […]

I’m pretty happy with the way this piece came out. I was playing around with packing tape transfers, which have experienced a new popularity since some VIPs in the art world discovered them and decided this older woman deserved a home. I also used another transfer-a bird image onto polymer clay.
By the way, I’m […]

I had so much fun working on the cardboard stamped backgrounds from last Friday’s challenge, but I haven’t had time to do anything else with them yet. Since some of you were curious about how the cardboard stamps worked, here is a sample of one of the backgrounds I made using a sun stamp I […]

If you haven’t been checking out the kids’ aisles in your local craft store, you are really missing out on a great thing. Some of these kits are nice. I picked up this Valentine’s Day wooden tree at Joann Fabrics for under $5 because all of the kids’ holiday craft kits were 40% off.
I’m […]

Bird Valentine’s Day Card

Today’s challenge came about as I was working on a surprise for the beginning of February. Use a bird image (stamped, ephemera, etc.) and a Valentine’s Day related rubber stamp to make a card. Here is the one I […]

Willa Cather gives us quite a lot to think about with this one: “Art and religion (they are the same thing, in the end, of course) have given man the only happiness he has ever had.”
I suppose we could say that an artist is inspired by something bigger than himself and that religious beliefs quite […]

With a name like Dreary Daffodils, you’d expect this Etsy shop to be filled with things that are…well, dreary. However, they are almost all downright cheery. This talented artist creates such lovely cards and envelopes that I had a hard time decided which one to show you. Then I decided that with Valentine’s Day coming […]
