Handmade Gifts Poll Results

Well, I had pretty good luck with the handmade gifts I gave this year, even for the people who are usually hard to please! Hope you were as lucky. Here are the results of the poll:
How do people react to your handmade gifts?
* They say they’ll treasure it always.

Thursday Thought - What Makes an Artist?

Friedrich Von Schlegel said, “Art and works of art do not make an artist; sense and enthusiasm and instinct do.”
Do you agree? Obviously, if you are making perfect, but soulless copies of something, you could be replaced by a photocopier, but if you never make a piece of art, are you still an artist? […]

Wednesday Spotlight - Daisy Blue

Friday Challenge - Simple Tools

I was reading Drawing from Within by Nick Meglin this week and one of the chapters was really thought provoking. Mr. Meglin talked about how so many of his students purchased tools used by great painters as if it would make them better artists. He pointed out that the great tennis stars could outplay us […]

Thursday Thought - See an Artist’s Soul

Lady Bird Johnson said:
Art is the window to man’s soul. Without it, he would never be able to see beyond his immediate world; nor could the world see the man within.
So, the next time you make a piece of art, you are showing the world your soul. No pressure, folks. Seriously though, I think it […]

Wednesday Spotlight - Tissue and Acetate Card

I love the few cards Ireland has posted in her Splitcoaststampers.com gallery. This crane and willow tree card using a tissue paper and acetate technique is absolutely gorgeous. Look at the color and texture on the tree background. I have got to make time to play around with this technique.
