Stamping Out Alzheimer’s Fat Book Sisters Pages

The first set of pages I am working on has a “sisters” theme and is dedicated to all my special memories of my sister. None of them is alike because making the same page over again just doesn’t excite me.
If you want to join the swap at the last minute, I do have a few […]

Work In Progress - A Bird’s Eye View

I don’t have a completed project to show you today, so I thought I’d share a canvas I’m working on for a swap. I used a home decor leaf stamp to make the background. I still need to work on the bird’s beak and I’m not sure if I’m done with the eye. I’ve redone […]

Artful Monday - Mixed Media Mini Collage

For Artful Monday, I have a quick little mixed media collage piece to show you. I’m still trying to use up scraps. The champagne bottle stamp is a UM, so I’m not sure who made it. If I ever sell UMs, I think I will write my company name on the back in permanent ink. […]

Paper Patchwork and Rubber Stamping Revisited

I have an overflowing scrap bucket again, so I thought it was time to revisit paper patchwork. Here’s a little ATC piece I worked on the other day. The medalion rubber stamped image is a UM, so I’m not sure who made it. The image is from Altered Abbey.

Stamped Inchies From Debbie’s Diecuts

Debbie’s Diecuts has some amazing rubber stamped inchies. She made some circle inchies, which I think are absolutely wonderful. In addition, if you hate cutting all those little squares, (and circles) Debbie sells an inchie sampler. That way, you can make your own lovely inchies without the hassle of cutting them out.

Make Art Monday - Everglade Beauty

I did use stamps on this piece, but they got covered up completely by all the layers of acrylic and lace. Everglade Beauty is based on the lovely blue herons I was watching the other day. I started a series called Chesapeake Blue that features herons, but remembered that I had this background and got […]

Make Art Monday - The Skinny Book Swap Goes Out

I finished up the Skinny Book swap pages for Altered Abbey and packaged them up to send off. I had a total of 30 pages and didn’t think you’d want to scroll through that many pictures. That would be one long Make Art Monday post! Then, I remembered that I had seen this handy photo […]

Mixed Media Painting - Bird in the Hand

So, I finally decided (after 4 years) to get back to actually painting my mixed media pieces. I’ve lost all my skills, so it isn’t perfect. However, the worst thing was that I couldn’t get the poor girl’s eye to look decent. I looked at some other artists’ sites and noticed a lot of girls […]

Artful Monday - Mixed Media Bird in Tree

I tried to scan the whole piece, but it comes out too dark every time, so I had to make do with a section photo, instead. This is an example of how different things can end up. I originally was planning to continue the cheery birds I’m working on. They’re so cute that you need […]

Tissue Paper Luminarte Technique

This skinny book page uses a fun background technique I’ve been playing around with. In person, the shimmer and depth is amazing. I crinkled up colored tissue paper and glued it down with gel medium. Then I used Luminarte’s watercolor cakes to highlight some of the textured areas from gluing down the wrinkled paper. The […]
