Today’s Gothic Arch Challenge was to use purple. I don’t usually play around with purple, but I really got into it and ended up making three. This is my favorite, but they’re all fairies and flowers. I think I’ll end up mounting them to something as a set of three - maybe a little table […]

I’ve been so busy this week that I’ve really had to squeeze in every moment of art time, but I love house art so much and wanted to participate in this challenge. By the time I got home tonight, I was wiped out, so I just made a kind of mini journal page. There are […]

I know you’ve got one, too. A stash of things that will make a good project someday. Well, for these little tiles, someday is officially here. I bought them from Target’s dollar spot about a year ago and couldn’t decide what to do with them, so I tucked them away. As I was organizing the […]

I was watching the Tracey Bautista class again and she mentioned making background stamps from cardboard. It sounded like the perfect project to entertain sick kids and adults who are sick of being stuck inside with sick kids and Scooby Doo playing for the zillionth time in the background, so that is today’s challenge. I was reading Drawing from Within by Nick Meglin this week and one of the chapters was really thought provoking. Mr. Meglin talked about how so many of his students purchased tools used by great painters as if it would make them better artists. He pointed out that the great tennis stars could outplay us […]

Hey, if you’re short on time, just post your doodle! And don’t worry about making it perfect or using specific […]

Alright, it is time for the second Stamping Mad challenge. (That doesn’t mean you can’t still do challenge #1, though. Challenges don’t expire.) For this challenge, find something in the news to inspire a piece of art.
My inspiration - Plastic Pink Flamingos In Danger of Extinction. Who can resist a headline like that? You […]

I used a lot of different objects as stamps for our first challenge. My favorite: a background created with the eraser end of a pencil. I also used springs, character erasers and a wrench. I tried pasta, but it didn’t work out. Don’t forget to post your results to the flickr group!

It’s time for our first Stamping Mad Challenge. Look everywhere but in your rubberstamp storage for this one! Find something in your household that you can use as a stamp. Some items are perfect for creating backgrounds, while others make an attractive enough stamped image that they can be used as the main image on […]
