Tip for Image Transfers with Gel Medium

I read somewhere that ironing the back of your image before you peel it off really helps the image adhere to the canvas better, but I never got around to trying it until today. It really does seem to make a better bond and more of the image stays on the canvas.

Stamping and Embroidery Revisited Again

Remember when I was wondering about combining rubber stamps and embroidery? Well, Leisure Arts has been doing this with cross stitch projects for years. How did I miss this? If you’re interested in trying it out, here’s the video:

Using Flower Petals as Paint

If the kids want to make some spring cards, one fun idea is to have them use flower petals and grass blades as paint to color in their stamped images. Just pull a few petals from a flower blossom and rub them over the paper and they will leave a light coat of color behind. […]

Glue Resist

The little guy and I spent hours yesterday playing with ordinary school glue, rubberstamps, cardstock and a few inkpads. First, we inked a rubberstamp with school glue and stamped it on the cardstock. Then, we waited for the image to dry. (And started on a new glue stamped background.) Once the glue was dry, we […]

Have you ever wanted to create an elegant, understated card with an image that is a slightly lighter shade of your cardstock color? Perhaps you’ve seen some of these cards and wondered how the rubberstamping artist found an ink that was so perfect for the cardstock. The answer is in your laundry room.
To make […]

One Rubber Stamp Makes Several Different Images

Have you ever taken a close look at a rubber stamp with more than one image on it? Sometimes, a single image from a large stamp can be used to create just the effect you want. Other times, you may want to use all of the images on the stamp, but in different ways. This […]

4th of July Firecracker Treat

I am always trying to use my trash to make something interesting.
Here is one thing I came up with, it is a 4th of July treat holder.  I used Brilliant Blue and Real Red to stamp the Stars and Swirls on a white toilet paper roll (you can use a paper towel roll if you […]
