Embossing Technique
Embossing is a fabulous way to add depth and character to your stamping project. And it’s really quite simple as long as you have the tools in front of you!
What you’ll need:
- Craft Ink Stamp Pad or Versamark Stamp Pad
- Embossing Powder
- Embossing Gun or Heat Source
Steps to follow:
- Stamp your design onto the paper using the craft ink stamp pad or Versamark stamp pad. You need an ink that is slow drying so that the embossing powder has a chance to stick to the image.
- Pour the embossing powder over the stamped image, making sure to cover all parts of the ink.
- Dump off excess powder and place back in original container (I often use a folded card and pour into the crease, which then makes it easy to funnel back into the embossing powder container).
- Using an embossing gun or heat source, heat the embossing powder until it turns into a wet/raised stamped image.
Tips:
- Make sure not to burn the paper by overheating it. It’s best to hold the heat source further away from the stamped image and work your way closer if needed.
- You may want to invest in anti-static paper so that the embossing powder does not stick to other portions of the paper. You’ll rub this on the paper before stamping your image.
