Halloween Stamping Project For Kids - Treat Bags

by Katelyn on September 30th, 2007

This is a really fun and easy project for kids. It is a bit time consuming, but makes a really inexpensive art project for a big group of children, so we use it as an activity for some of our holiday parties. You’ll need a standard sized envelope, tape, ink pads and a variety of spooky rubber stamps. To begin, seal the envelope. Then, turn it so that the skinny end is at the bottom and cut an inch off the other skinny end. Make a one inch fold in the remaining sealed skinny end. Fold it back the other way so the fold is nice and crisp. Make a 1/2 inch fold on each of the long sides of the envelope. Fold them back the other way, as well.
Now comes the fun part. Decorate the center of each side of the envelope. When you are done stamping and coloring, unfold the parts that are folded over. Press the bottom crease out so that there is a square bottom to your envelope with little triangles sticking out on the ends. The sides should pop out, too, but you may need to help them fall into place so that they look like traditional bag sides. Fold the little triangles under and tape them into place.
