Stamping as Therapy
This article in the Atlanta Journal Constitution gave me food for thought:
Debbie says many stampers use the hobby as therapy.
“Women who have stressful jobs come home and go to their craft room and start stamping,” she said. “It really helps eliminate pressure and stress. . . . For others who work with numbers all day, this gives them a chance to use another side of the brain.”
I must be one of the most relaxed people in the universe…Seriously, stamping is very therapeutic for me. If I’m feeling really stressed and can’t even think about working on whatever art pieces I have going, I just ink up a bunch of stamps and make backgrounds or stamp them on white cardstock for future use. Does anyone else reach for stamp pads and rubber if they’re having a rough day?

Joyful Days

I am home all day and I use stamping as therapy. I’ve told my husband countless times how much I’ve saved him buying rubber stamps instead of going to a psychologist.
I take mini five minute fixes during the day. My craft area is next to the laundry and amazingly enough when I go to change a load the siren song of the ink calls my name and there is just enough time to stop and do “just one thing” before getting back to the days business.
Not feeling so relaxed right now. Maybe I should head off to stamp, ummm…I mean do laundry.

Comparing the price of stamps to a visit to the psychologist is a great idea! I feel soo much less guilty for splurging now.
