Stamping on Vellum
by Nikki Katz on September 23rd, 2005
I love to use Vellum on my cards and scrapbook pages. It’s a fun way to include text or a small image, without using up more of your precious layout space! Vellum is a semi-transparent paper (offered in a variety of hues).
Here are a few tips to use when stamping with vellum:
When stamping on vellum, make sure to let the ink dry. Vellum tends to smear if you touch it without letting the ink dry (believe me, it’s happened to me on a number of occasions!)
When you adhere the vellum, you will be able to see the glue through the paper - so there are a couple of techniques to implement to hide the glue. You can use brads or eyelets instead of glue (this is my favorite way to adhere the vellum - just be careful as it tears easily). You can tie a ribbon around the vellum (loosely) and cover the glue. Or you can adhere the vellum behind other cardstock so that the glue is not visible.
If your vellum does not cover the width or length of the cardstock, you may want to tear the edges to give it a nicer look.
Emboss the stamped image on the vellum and then sponge in color within the image to give it a stained glass appearance.
Good luck and happy stamping!
