Step 4 in Stamping a Card: Stamp and Color
This series is devoted to the steps necessary to stamp a card.
Step 4: Stamp and Color
Now that you’ve figured out exactly where your stamps are going to go, it’s time to stamp!! I start with my top layer and work my way down, stamping the individual sheets of paper before gluing anything together.
I tap my stamp against the ink, making sure that the stamp is completely saturated with ink before stamping (the last thing you want is gaps in your inked image!)
When I’m done stamping the outlines, I decide if I want to do any coloring. For this card I decided to color in the fairy stamp with watercolors and blender pens. I first outlined the fairy’s dress and wings in varying shades of purple. Her wand and bow are yellow and her tights, shoes, and the grass are green.
Once I was done outlining the colors I used the blender pen to pull the color toward the center of the image. Pretty purple fairy!
Although I didn’t do any background stamps for this card, this is the step where you will want to stamp any background techniques onto your base cardstock or layers. Whether you’re using a stamp, marbles, or some other fun method - this is the time in the process to complete it.
