Studio 432 in Perryville Maryland

You wouldn’t believe what I found today, practically right up the street. I almost bought this neat old building a few years ago to renovate for a house, but I decided it was more than I could handle. It was a church with a loft and annexes and it needed a ton of work. Seeing an open sign, I naturally had to visit and see how the new owners renovated. Well, it is gorgeous and it is now a gallery, Studio 432, which sells wood, glass, silk and metal art pieces from some very gifted artists and crafters. So, I’m already excited because we don’t have a lot of this type of thing in the area.

Then, the owner mentions that she’s been dying reeds for the next class. “Class? What class?” By the time she finishes explaining that she’s got one classroom together and is working on renovating another room for “messy” art, I’m almost drooling. Art and craft classes! Now, to be fair, we do have an arts council in Cecil County and they do offer a few classes, but they’re about twenty minutes away and there are only about 6 classes a year, most of which focus on drawing. This is, as I may have already mentioned, right up the street.

I’m so excited. Really, really excited. Plus, I’m broke because I had to buy this awesome frog sculpture by the talented Phill Johnston while I was there. It’s made with forks and spoons. I couldn’t get it to scan right, but I’ll try to remember to load a picture as soon as my new USB cable for the camera comes.

Anyway, if you’re in the area, stop by and check them out. The gallery is located at 432 Aiken Avenue in Perryville. Now if we’d only get a good art/craft supply store nearby. Currently, the available options are Walmart and…Walmart.
