Technique Tuesday - Altered Valentine’s Day Tree
Remember the craft kit I showed you on Sunday? This is the finished Valentine’s Day tree. To make it, I covered the tree in sheet music. This was an absolute pain to do, because of all the curves. If you do the same kit, you may want to paint and stamp it instead. That’s what I’d do if I ended up with a second one to do.
Then, we made the heart collages. They were fun, kind of like doing inchies that were a funny shape. As you can see, they don’t have a common theme. It is a perfect craft for a group of people because everyone can take a few hearts and make their own. The little guy went for very glittery and I only hung one of his because the rest are still wet with about an inch of glitter glue on them! We started by painting all of the hearts and then I used a hammer and a nail to punch holes in the ones that didn’t have them. (For some reason, only about half the hearts in the kits had holes and we wanted more hearts than that on our tree.)
After that, we pulled out a lot of small stuff and made the collages. After they dried, we put hangers through the holes, knotted them and hung our hearts.
