Technique Tuesday - Faux Tie Dye Background
This is a fun way to use up some of those spray on dyes or color mist products you never got around to trying. You will need some old fashioned rick rack, a piece of cardstock or watercolor paper (glossy cardstock doesn’t work well-it smears too much) and some spray dye or color mist colors. Create a pattern on your cardstock with the rick rack. Pull it tight and tack it down with rubber cement if you want crisp lines. I prefer the spatters that happen with loose rick rack. It looks more tie dye to me. Spray the dye onto the cardstock and let it dry. After the dye has been absorbed into the cardstock, pull off the rick rack and take a look at the results. Fast, fun and kind of sixties looking.
