Technique Tuesday - Polymer Clay Christmas Ornaments

by Katelyn on November 6th, 2007

ornamentA few Christmas themed rubber stamps and some polymer clay combine to make some fun and easy Christmas ornaments. To make Christmas ornaments using polymer clay, you will need to gather rubber stamps with simple lines, polymer clay, a pasta machine or rolling pin, gold leaf, powdered pigments or other glittery embellishments and a craft knife.

I used the pasta machine to roll out the clay and pressed the rubber stamps into it. I used the craft knife to cut out the stamps and carefully added a bit of gold leaf and powdered pigments. I used a paintbrush handle to make a hole for hanging on some of the ornaments. Once I was done, I laid them on a cookie sheet covered with a piece of parchment paper and then covered the whole thing with a sheet of aluminum foil. I baked the sheet of ornaments according to the manufacturer instructions and let them cool.

Now, I have a whole array of pretty ornaments to hang on trees and add as decorative elements to wrapped gifts.
