Stamping Mad

Technique Tuesday - Recycled Ornament Top Flowers

by Katelyn on December 18th, 2007

The other day, I came across a tip to make glass glitter from unwanted glass ornaments. (I can’t remember which blog I read it on to give credit, but what a great, money saving idea.) Anyway, I took a bunch of red balls that were faded and scratched and stuck them in a bag to contain the glass and crushed them up. However, then I had all of these ornament tops and it seemed like I should be able to do something with them. I realized that if I bent the edges back down, they’d be little metal flowers with space inside for pictures, so I got out my hammer and started whacking away.
metal flowersHere is a pile of tops and two that have been hammered down. You can see they look like daisies of some kind and are a great size for stamping projects. Now, if I can just come up with a use for the little wire bit that fastened the tops to the ornaments, we’ll be super eco-friendly.
