Technique Tuesday - Shapes and Acrylic Backgrounds
Yesterday, I got the new Cloth, Paper, Scissors mag. Filled with ideas, as always. I was especially interested in the article on using die cut shapes in our art, but didn’t feel like pulling out my machine to play around. I just cut some bird shapes from paper instead. Then, I applied a layer of acrylic paint to a piece of watercolor paper and let it dry.
Next, I placed the bird shapes on the paper and used a credit card to scrape the copper paint over them and part of the paper. New background pages for some future project in about ten minutes. If you don’t cut your shapes by hand, you can probably do them even faster.

Thank you for the tips, I feel the rush to try them. I am a watercolorist/ anything artful.
I have been using parts of paintings as backgrounds sometimes, this is a fun idea plus
using shaved crayons, that idea looks fun also.
I like saranwrap on wet watercolor all squished up
till it dries, makes nice patterns.
Thanks you again.
