Technique Tuesday - Weave a Background

by Katelyn on February 5th, 2008

Woven background papersI saw this technique in a past issue of Somerset Studio (Nov 2007 - Georgia Gibbons Altered Book). Cut horizontal lines into an old book page or other piece of ephemera using your craft knife. I made wavy lines and stopped them about 1/2 inch from the edges of the paper. Then, cut strips of decorative paper of 1/2″ or less in width. Weave the decorative paper strips through the cuts in your book page and tack them down using your favorite glue or gel medium. I actually cut a stack of book pages all at once so that I could make a bunch of pages. Using different decorative paper strips makes them look completely unique.
