Thursday Thought - How Important is Color?
Painters have blue periods, red phases… Exactly how much does color matter? Claude Monet says, “Colour is my day-long obsession, joy and torment.” For him, it means a lot.
I find myself using the same two or three colors over and over. I am drawn to greens and blues and I have to force myself to use other colors. Orange is really hard. Red is getting easier.
Then, I wonder if I need to force myself to use other colors. Am I really making myself grow or am I stifling my creativity by making myself use colors I don’t really want to use?

I used to hate reds and oranges.
I forced myself to start using them more and now I love adding a splash of red or orange to almost everything.
Still can’t do pink!!!

I say use the colors you love till you are bored with them and want to add something else. Think of it like O’Keefe doing flowers over and over saying there was something new each time she looked. Maybe colors are like that for you. Enjoy them. Life is too short to use what you don’t like unless you feel like stretching on a given day.
