Unmounted vs. Mounted Stamps
Why would you buy unmounted instead of mounted stamps? Well expense is usually a big factor. Unmounted stamps can cost up to 50% less than mounted stamps and they take up much less space than mounted stamps. Unmounted stamps also offer YOU the choice of determining where on the block you would like to mount them… center mount, bottom mount for easy alignment, or even corner mounting! The decision is completely up to you and satisfying your preferences.
Don’t get me wrong - it can be a lot of work to mount stamps, and cutting them takes patience, strong fingers (believe me my figners get sore after cutting out an entire alphabet!), and great scissors. I do own mounted stamps, purchasing them at Target or Michaels when they are on sale or I need a specific stamp to fufill a need for an invitation or scrapbooking. And when I do buy them, I often wonder why I bother with unmounted ones!
If you do own unmounted stamps and are looking for wooden blocks to mount them on - I found a great place online at Woodmounts.com.
