Using a Brayer
by Nikki Katz on August 9th, 2005
I am getting my new brayer this week! So I thought it would be a great time to write about all the things you can do with a brayer.
The first step is to ink the brayer correctly. Roll the brayer all the way across the inkpad, several times. Do not roll the brayer back and forth, or you will only ink a portion of the surface.
Things to do with a brayer:
Change the color of the paper - just roll the brayer on white paper and you’ll have a new color to embellish and stamp.
Ink large stamps - just roll the inked brayer directly on the stamp and stamp away!
Reverse stamps - stamp onto the brayer directly, or roll the brayer over the stamp - then roll it on the paper. You can make two images kiss by using this technique.
Use markers to ink the brayer in lines, and then roll it on paper for a striped or wavy lined background.
Make a plaid pattern on the brayer with a marker and roll to make plaid on the cardstock.

Good tips for a novice! I watched a lady use a brayer with ripped paper for a landscape, perhaps you could show how. Thanks
