Stamping Mad

Valentine’s Day Heart Decoration

by Katelyn on February 7th, 2007

dec-2006-074-medium.jpgI love those beautiful wooden hearts people have tucked in unexpected spots in their home, but I don’t mix well with jigsaws and other sharp stuff. So, I decided to cut hearts out of thick cardboard instead. I painted them with a basecoat of red or pink acrylic paint.

Once the paint dried, I picked out a rubber stamp that would look good as a pattern and applied a thin layer of silver paint to it. I stamped it on the heart several times and reapplied paint when the image started to look faded. I repeated these steps until the heart was covered with the pattern and waited for the paint to thoroughly dry. Instant romance for my home and I didn’t have to risk using the jigsaw!
