Wishing You All Happy Holidays
I’ve been working on a stack of last minute gifts and personalized gift tags, which means I’ve been shamefully neglecting my poor computer. One of my favorite ideas is to make a very special gift tag for a child’s present. I use pretty cardstock, vintage images or Christmas rubber stamps, ink pads in holiday colors, a tag tempate, letter brads to spell out the child’s name, a hole punch and some pretty fibers.
I cut out a tag shape, apply the image to the tag, punch holes along the bottom to fasten the letter brads to the tag and then write “Christmas 2006″ near the top or down one side of the tag. I use the ink pads to swirl on color, which helps blend the tag elements together and gives it a slightly aged look. Finally, I punch a hole in the top of the tag, add the fibers and tie it to a package.
Often, the child’s mother will mention later that she saved the tags to hang on next year’s tree or to add to a scrapbook.
