You Can’t Rush Art
I’ve been working on a few canvases for I don’t even want to know how long and finished some today. I needed a break and a cup of tea, but I decided to rush out while there wasn’t a breeze and spray a coat of sealer over a canvas that was dry. Well, I grabbed the can, took it and the canvas out on the porch, shook the can and then thoroughly sprayed the canvas. I took a step forward and it felt like I was walking in sticky juice. I took a second look at the can. Yup. Sprayed the whole thing with adhesive instead of sealer. Next on the agenda: thunk head repeatedly against wall, go inside and make a cup of tea. Maybe I should have titled this post “If I can make art, then anybody can.” The good news is that I was able to re-spray it with the sealer and it looks ok.
Lost Dreams is a series of mixed media pieces I’m doing related to Alzheimer’s disease. By the way, I’m still looking for people to participate in a fat book with a cherished memories theme for my Stamp Out Alzheimer’s fundraiser.
